THOMAS FOLEY

NEW YORK, NY

Not many American law practices can pride themselves with having a partner who has acted for the United Kingdom Government on cases involving the British royalty.  Shipkevich PLLC is ecstatic to welcome Thomas J. Foley, a world class attorney who has worked on several high profile cases in London and New York, one of which being the Inquests into the Deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Al Fayed.

In London, Thomas has acted on the government legal teams on two large scale and complex investigations involving the post-war occupation of Iraq and has extensive experience in public and private international law, international human rights law, English civil law and procedure including appellate procedure, and international family law. Nowadays practicing in New York, Thomas advises clients in complex litigation and investigations, often with multi-jurisdictional, international law issues, involving fraud, breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, and negligent misrepresentation as well as regulatory and compliance issues.

Thomas received his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law where he was the Managing Editor of the Family Court Review law journal. After law school Thomas went to London, England where he was the first United States citizen to serve as a judicial clerk and lawyer to the Court of Appeal of England and Wales where Thomas case managed appeals and applications in domestic and international civil law cases. After the Court of Appeal, Thomas worked with senior members of the judiciary on large scale litigation and investigations for the United Kingdom Government including the Baha Mousa and Al-Sweady Public Inquiries investigating allegations of human rights abuses in Iraq in 2003 and 2004.
